MEET OUR SPEAKER

Professor Paul Simshauser AM is the Chief Executive Officer of Iberdrola Australia.

Paul has more than 25 years’ experience in the energy industry across the ASX-listed, public and private sectors, spanning power generation, energy trading, retail supply, electricity networks, public administration, policy and academia.

Paul’s prior roles include CEO of transmission network utility Powerlink Queensland, Director-General of the Queensland Department of Energy, Executive General Manager of Energy Markets at Infigen Energy and Chief Economist at AGL Energy. 

Paul is also a Professor of Economics at Griffith University’s Centre for Applied Energy Economics & Policy Research, and an Associate at the Energy Policy Research Group, University of Cambridge. 

In 2019 he was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia for significant contribution to the energy industry, through executive roles and applied economics and policy research
